2007 suzuki gsxr 750 service manual
When you’re at the top of the heap, there’s sometimes little motivation to improve. This is the dilemma that Suzuki faces as they roll out their 2008 GSX-R lineup. In this instance, it looks like Suzuki took the safe and easy route. I don’t really blame them. Trying to mess with something that already has an excellent track record could lead to negative results. As stated, the 2008 Suzuki GSX-R750 is a somewhat minor update from the previous year.

First point, the styling has taken a positive change. The front of the nose has a more modern look and it’s also a tad bit wider. The headlight consists of a single low beam with two high beams on the sides. With this new nose styling, it could go a good ways towards further protecting the rider from the wind.

Another new addition are the mirror mounted turn signals. All in all, it’s a smoother, more refined look. One area where a lot of new Suzuki owners might complain is the new exhaust system. Due to tighter discharge regulations, this new exhaust extends all of the way out from the underside of the engine rather awkwardly.

In a word, it’s rather ugly. Aftermarket exhaust makers like Yoshimura are surely going to see a huge increase in sales as 2008 GSX-R owners dash off with cash in hand to purchase a replacement exhaust. The frame has mostly been untouched. The subframe, however is now constructed out of die-cast aluminum. The gas tank has a slightly increased fuel capacity. The engine has slightly larger vent holes between the cylinders.

Other upgrades include an updated engine management unit, S-DMS power-mode selector, upgraded fuel injectors, and spark plugs.Like the other parts of this bike, the transmission has for the most part been left unchanged. One minor improvement involves an improved internal ribbing that’s supposed to be able to reduce the mechanical noise.

And finally, the wheels and brakes have been upgraded. After all is said and done, this is a evolutionary update. It’s in no way a revolutionary update.

But in the end, is that really all that bad? There comes a time when you might not want to mess with something that’s so close to perfection. One area that might put-off potential buyers is the price increase of the GSX-R750. At this point, you’re only a few hundred dollars away from the GSX-R1000. Allow me to help with your decision.

If you’re a young guy or gal and like the idea of saving some money, get the 750 model. From reports I hear, younger riders will pay a lot more in motorcycle insurance for the 1000 model. But if you’re an older person like me, you’ll have a much tougher decision to work out. Personally, I’d go for the GSX-R1000.
